Event: (October 21, 2010) In this article, we find that the one of our fashion stars Katy Perry, is really just wearing who she is, not trying to follow the trends. This article tells us that Katy has a bold, unique and playful personality. Even her humor plays a role in her fashion choices. She is interested in the decades of the 40's and the 60's, even the roaring 20's. She loves the pin-up girl style, vintage clothing, and bright colors. She wears what she wants, and doesn't seem to care what anyone has to say about it. Katy said that "her transformation as a performing artist began first with fashion after she saw Dominique Swain's portrayal in Lolita." She is one of the only artist that can transform from the All-American gospel singer to a punk rock glam star who sings "I kissed a girl, and I liked it" and get away with it, not to mention have a fashion world trying to step into her shoes, literally. This article tells us that she is a fashion icon that woman follow, and always ahead of the trends, from her watermelon fruit love, to her electric blue wig, Katy Perry is unstoppable.
Response: People love Katy Perry, not just her music and fashion, but just her personality point blank. They like her because she's different, and she's not afraid to be. What we need to realize is she's literally wearing her personality. Her personality and interests is portrayed the same way in her fashion. From her bright red lipstick, and jet black hair, to her vintage love, there's no way she could hide her inner edginess. Katy Perry isn't afraid to hide who she is, and this makes her fashion become more alive. She's not a held back version of something we see on the runway like a lot of trendsters, she finds something that belongs on a runway, makes it her own, and then flaunts it from red carpet to the dentist. We wonder why everyone is following her fashion, but it's because fashion is HER. When you don't hold back, and make it your own, you're creating fashion, don't let fashion create you.

Event: (October 19, 2010) Jennifer Lopez's kids Max and Emme (both are 2 years of age), are now modeling for the new Gucci children fashion line along with Mark Anthony and Jennifer herself. Lopez and her sister Lynda are the founders of the Maribel Foundation (a organization that provides woman and children a better healthcare plan.) Since they are the founders, Gucci will be making a donation to their organization. This photoshoot was shot in July, on the beach in Malibu, one big happy family should be the title.
response: I think it's fantastic that Gucci is donating to Jennifer's charity, and at the same time we get to see her darling kids in our Gucci advertisements. It was a win-win situation. It's good to see that Gucci is providing more that just great fashion for our woman, but supporting woman's healthcare as well. I personally love Lopez, and the fact that she's done singing, acting, and modeling, and keeps coming back into the spotlight, shows how completely timeless she is. Maybe her children have just as bright of a future ahead of them. Gucci at the age of two sounds like a big success to me.

CLEAN UP YOUR FASHION- Today, in my textile class at school (at 7:30 in the still dark morning-mind you), we got on the topic of fashion pollution. I was curious as to why I've been constantly hearing of fashion companies going green, come to find out that fashion is one of the top pollutants today. The chemicals they use in textile mills are causing a great effect on water and air pollution, 200 TONS OF WATER IS POLLUTED PER TON OF FABRIC. That's not even the half of it though, I also came to find that 1/4 of all pesticides got towards the growing of cotton, and we all know what cotton is here for, CLOTHES. Here's a fun fact: China, (know for it's overwhelming amount of pollution) found that 2 of it's top polluting factories were their textile mills! Crazzzzy.
More about China though... There 3 billion tons of burnt fabric each year from fabrics that have been tossed out because they were dyed the wrong color. Whatever color China's water is that dyed that season, is known to be the color in fashion. I guess the Chinese can always know what the color trend is that season at least? To finish off my anger towards China, the water which they are polluting, becomes the air that us Californians are breathing, China needs to get on the GO GREEN BOAT, AND GET OUT OF OUR WATER!
GO GREEN- Wear recycled clothes, support clothes made from bamboo fabric (newly fabulous), support soy based fabric, look for clothes that are not chemically altered, organic clothing is a must of course, buy from environmentally sane companies, look for organic cottons, and rrecycle your own clothes. Not only will these things help the environment, but it will help keep the prices on apparel down as well!
ECO BEFRIENDERS- Bahar Shahaar, Lara Miller, Tara St James, American Apparel, Del Forte, Vaute Couture, Popomomo, Marchuska, Richie Rich, Linda Loudermilk, Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Narcisco Rodriguez,
"GREEN SHOWS"- New York fashion week, September 16, 2010 hosted a serious of Green Shows. Consisting of Samantha Pleet, Deux FM, Popomomo, Joann Burman, Willian, Vaute Couture, Ekovaruhuset, Sonja Den Elzen, and Grey Harvey. The Green Shows brought eco-friendly fashion out of hiding, and into the spotlight. New York Fashion week is the prime of trend setting, and eco-friendly was the definitely the trend that was set.

A Sprinkle of My Splendors-
So all day I've been having the urge to take photos. Finally after an early morning, leading to a late brunch, I returned to my humble abode and picked up my beautiful Canon rebel. Enjoying the feel of my favorite camera in my hands (even though it hasn't even been 24 hours since it was previously set in my palms), and too happy to be home, I decided to stay home and just snap what caught my eye around me. Hopefully it can be an interior inspiration of some sort. (:
